MEDICATION ASSISTED TREATMENT
Partners Behavioral Healthcare offers Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in our goal to provide a “whole patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. MAT bridges the biological and behavioral components of addiction. Research indicates a combination of medication and behavioral therapies can successfully treat SUDs and help sustain recovery. MAT has been shown to assist patients in recovery by improving quality of life, level of functioning, and the ability to handle stressors. MAT is evidence based and is a recommended course of treatment for opioid addiction.
Prescribed medications normalize brain chemistry, relieves physiological cravings, and normalizes body functions without the other substance’s negative withdrawal effects. MAT medications are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Each medication has different properties and is assessed by medical personnel to determine which is the best option for the individual.
